The Ministry of Education called for value — and Ruruku answered.

When the Ministry sharpened its focus on value for money, Ruruku stepped up — delivering a well-designed, two-classroom satellite unit for Kimi Ora School that balanced cost, function, and quality from start to finish.

Located on the grounds of Pomare School in Lower Hutt, the project was designed by Ruruku’s in-house team to meet the specific needs of students with high and complex needs. The layout and detailing reflect a deep understanding of the requirements for specialist education — creating calm, functional, and safe spaces for both learning and therapy.

Ruruku managed the project end-to-end, providing design, project management, and quantity surveying services. Working closely with the Ministry, Kimi Ora, and the host school, we oversaw all aspects of planning, design development, procurement, and construction.

The result is a warm, welcoming facility that supports inclusive education and demonstrates what’s possible when clarity, collaboration, and value come together.
