Ruruku led the design and delivery of this striking residential home, set on a steep and tightly constrained site in Wellington’s Aro Valley. From concept through to completion, the focus was on practical innovation, buildability, and efficiency — both in construction and in performance.

With difficult site access and limited room for conventional foundations, the team took an alternative approach: the home was built using structural insulated panels (SIPs) on ground screws, allowing for a fast, clean build that was completed within a tight six-month timeframe.

The spatial layout is simple and efficient, offering a highly liveable plan within a compact footprint. Internally, raw timber finishes and large windows create a calm, grounded interior that feels intimately connected to the surrounding landscape — blending natural warmth with high-performance construction.

This project showcases Ruruku’s ability to think differently, respond to site and client needs, and deliver beautiful, energy-efficient homes with real-world practicality.
